This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
This is another reason as to why I have full confidence in the Word of God, The Holy Bible. Its prophetic messages have been, as to this date, 100% accurate. And what a time we live in! We see it everyday through the sad news of individuals murdering for various reasons, of associates who are more concerned of how you can benefit them instead of the other way around. As for children and parent relations: It has been very strained. Those in the church are not exempted. In fact verse 5 says “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:5). The author Ellen G. White says this:
“How often, in our own day, is the love of pleasure disguised by a “form of godliness”! A religion that permits men, while observing the rites of worship, to devote themselves to selfish or sensual gratification, is as pleasing to the multitudes now as in the days of Israel. And there are still pliant Aarons, who, while holding positions of authority in the church, will yield to the desires of the unconsecrated, and thus encourage them in sin” [Patriarchs and Prophets; pg 317]
In all of this, there is an admonition for us who are striving still to follow God.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; (2 Timothy 3:14)
Let us NEVER give up on following God’s commands and guidelines in this sin sick world. Be encouraged by this statement:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:8)
Blessings to all
